A memorial portrait collection at the Platoon Veteran Service Center in Frederick, Maryland recently opened and it’s unlike anything I have ever seen. There are 22 portraits of servicemen from various branches of the military. Some are in uniform; some are holding their children and most have a smile on their faces.

Goodwill and Platoon 22 Partner to Serve Veterans
Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley and Platoon 22 announced a new facility combining Goodwill administrative and retail services and a non-profit verteran services center under one roof. The new facility will serve as Goodwill’s main campus in Frederick, Maryland with additional support services focusing on organizations and programs dedicated to veterans and their families.
Frederick Vets Center Breaks Ground
Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley and Platoon 22 broke ground for their new joint facility in November of 2019. The facility, estimated to open on Veteran’s Day 2021, is a centralized location for Platoon 22’s veteran services, bringing vets the help they need transitioning back to civilian life and is, per Army vet Jon Harmon, “a game changer.”

Platoon 22 continues capital campaign for vets center after raising more than $50,000
Shortly after announcing plans to open a veterans service center in Frederick MD, in partnership with Goodwill, Platoon 22 raised more than $50k with its fourth annual golf tournament at Holly Hills Country Club. This marks a $42,000 increase in funds raised by the tournament since its first year.

Platoon 22, Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley break ground on new Veterans Services Center
When the new Goodwill and Veterans Service Center opens on Veteran’s Day 2021, it is expected to help around aide about 2,500 veterans in its first year. This 20,000 sq. ft. facility will be the first of its kind in Frederick, offering counseling, navigation through veteran benefits, and job training.
